Hunter had not yet graduated to the eight-string
guitar on this recording. This record was originally
put out by the Up & Down Club in San
Francisco owned by the super model Turlington
sisters. It was clubs like this that hosted
so many great developing artists almost every
night, including Charlie, which helped create
the jazz renaissance which started in the Bay
Area in the 90's. The Up & Down Club Sessions
were later picked up by Les Claypool and can
now be found on his label, Prawn Song Records,
along with Volume
2.
