Up & Down Club Sessions

(PRAWN SONG/MAMMOTH RECORDS - 1993)

Charlie Hunter - 7-string guitar
Dave Ellis - tenor saxophone
Jay Lane - drums

Recorded live at the Up & Down Club - San Francisco, CA
June 6, 1993

Hunter had not yet graduated to the eight-string guitar on this recording. This record was originally put out by the Up & Down Club in San Francisco owned by the super model Turlington sisters. It was clubs like this that hosted so many great developing artists almost every night, including Charlie, which helped create the jazz renaissance which started in the Bay Area in the 90's. The Up & Down Club Sessions were later picked up by Les Claypool and can now be found on his label, Prawn Song Records, along with Volume 2.
