This set of tunes
was recorded back in 1995 but the CD was
released in mid-1998. This is a project put
together by Charlie's friend, Bay Area trumpeter Scott
Jensen, who has written a few tunes
that Charlie performs including "Common
Ground" and "Do
That Then". Hunter primarily
lays down the rhythm parts while the others
solo. As the liner notes say, 'The Bay Project
was made up of just a few rehearsals, a few
hours in the studio, and a few years fermenting
the tapes in a dark closet'. Jensen and Hunter
are joined by three members of the Bay Area
hip-hop outfit, Alphabet Soup.
The Bay Project is no longer
available. With less than 1000 copies printed,
this is a collector's item. |
