This is the second release by T.J. Kirk, the eclectic side-project of Charlie's which includes Bay Area guitarists Will Bernard, John Schott, and Charlie's longtime drummer Scott Amendola. They intertwine the music of Thelonious Monk, James Brown and Rahsaan Roland Kirk. On If Four Was One, the guitars of Schott and Bernard are separated into the left and right channels. This was to be the last recording by T.J. Kirk before they disbanded to pursue individual projects.
